Chris McCormack (b. 1992) is an Irish composer, guitarist and producer, currently based in London, where he is studying Composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Dr. Richard Baker. Chris studied Music at Trinity College, Dublin, specialising in Composition under Dr. Evangelia Rigaki and Dr. Donnacha Dennehy. Chris previously also studied Composition with Dr. Kevin O’Connell at RIAM, Jazz Improvisation with Mike Nielsen at DIT, and Classical Guitar with Marion Hyland. Chris has a diploma in Sound Engineering and Music Technology from the Sound Training Centre, and has worked as a producer for several Irish bands, with releases securing positive reviews internationally. His work has been performed at Wigmore Hall, Milton Court Concert Hall, The Place Theatre, The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Irish National Concert Hall, the Project Arts Centre and the Samuel Beckett Theatre, and he is a member of the Irish Composers Collective. His work has been performed by, among others: Crash Ensemble, Plus Minus Ensemble, EXAUDI Vocal Ensemble, Dr. John Feeley and the Dublin Laptop Orchestra.
Chris’ studies are generously supported by the Guildhall School Trust and the Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust.
Current projects include a piece for percussionists, bass clarinet and electronics, a three-movement work for sinfonietta-style ensemble, and a new vocal work which will have its premiere at Wigmore Hall in May 2016.
